Summer Holiday Programs 2024

2024 holiday courses have now finished. Well done everyone for massive improvements.  The following content remains so that readers might have a good idea what to expect next summer.

Our summer holiday programs are a combination of education and fun. With typically warmer weather and lighter winds it is the perfect time to sail sail and sail. There’s none of that slipping backwards between weeks. And of course, with all day courses there’s proportionately much less packing away and setting up time!

Trips to Ruby Island are common when the weather is appropriate. And for the younger crowd, expect all sports of other games to keep them engaged!

Courses last for 2 days, each 10 am to 5pm. BYO lunch, ideally a wetsuit or shorty, windproof jacket, sunscreen, change of clothes, towel, togs and water bottle.  We provide personal floatation devices and helmets.

Courses will be run by experienced coach Angus and supported by experienced sailor youth volunteer assistants – their “new friends”. If courses are oversubscribed we endeavor to increase capacity by adding another coach. Rest assured the coach to student ratios will remain safe and good.

Holiday Camp Wha “RACE CAMP”

LTS  3+ RACE TRAINING

Thursday 25 and Friday 26 January 2024

There’s a regatta in Te Anau this weekend 27-28th. And another at Wanaka Yacht Club the following weekend. Both have active dinghy racing scenes in the types of boat you know and love. For those more advanced sailors at about “level 2-3” who are keen to race at these regattas, this camp is for you!  Angus will take you through the tricks and tips and you’ll be ready to hone your new skills on a friendly race course.  If you have attended this course you will be eligible to borrow a boat for either regatta.

We encourage Wanaka Yacht Club members to attend Te Anau’s friendly annual regatta, as well as our own. https://www.marakura.org/ We may be able to arrange / help with boat transport.

Parents – you will need to provide transport and sort accommodation etc but we do hope to car pool etc and stay together as a sociable group at a local campground. Details tba.
